Highly Successful 11th Symbios User Meeting in Athens

The 11th Symbios User Meeting took place in Athens from April 14 to 15, 2011 with 20 participants from 15 European airports.

 

Symbios is organizing the event twice a year hosted at one client airport, being Athens International Airport this time.

The participants from different European airports discussed current methodologies and topics in traffic forecasting as well as the use of the Airport Management System (AMS) to support forecasting and decision making processes. The user group serves Symbios as the core platform of reflecting uses of the Airport Management-System, discussing future expectations and features as well as deciding on the future product roadmap development.

 

During the conference in Athens, the participants highlighted additionally discussed and benchmarked their expected traffic development for the closed year 2010 and compared their previous forecasts for 2010 with the actual traffic results.

This year, Budapest Airport won the “Symbios Forecasting Trophy” for being closest with its 2010 forecast.

 

Apart from short term traffic forecasts, long term forecasting methodology and approaches was the focus topic of the workshop. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol presented their long term forecast model and ANA Portugal/ Symbios demonstrated the implementation of an integrated long term traffic forecasting solution being used for all Portuguese airports.

 

To close the workshops on Friday, Symbios’ product manager Manuel Heidler gave an overview of the actual product development for the new version AMS4 and the approach of integrating clients into product development closest possible.

 

The 11th User Meeting proved to be a great success based on the feedback of the participants and Symbios will continue hosting the User Meetings with the 12th conference taking place in fall 2011.
